About Doulaing for Rainbow Babies

Rainbow babies are called so because they are the rainbow after a storm. The light and life returning. It can also be a time of renewed grief, confusing emotions, and difficulty deciding how to celebrate your newborn while honouring the child you lost.

This is where a PAIL Doula can come in. We can help you work through your feeling and find ways to make your day special while including positive energy and holding space for memories of your child who has died.

A PAIL support package for Rainbow Babies might look like:

  • Three 60-minute Virtual Prenatal Visits.

  • Assistance in creating a Birth Wishes List.

  • Planning small ways to honour your family.

  • Support via email, phone, and text during your pregnancy.

  • 24/7 On-call support beginning at your 38th week of pregnancy and continuing until two weeks postpartum.

  • Continuous care throughout your labour and delivery (home birth in person, hospital virtually).

  • Two hours of postpartum support.

  • One check-in phone/video call the day after you give birth.

  • Three virtual postpartum visits in the weeks after your baby arrives, to chat about your birth experience, breastfeeding, and parenting concerns.

If you or a loved one requires these support services, please book a free consultation.

Maine Pregnancy Loss, Infant Loss, and Miscarriage Doula
“There is power that comes to people when they give birth. They don't ask for it, it simply invades them. Accumulates like clouds on the horizon and passes through, carrying the child with it.”.
